Carnegie Bandos
In 2004 Joanie's son Bob's school band, "The Carlsbad Lancers", was one of four bands across the United States invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. Joanie made the Bando ornaments as a fundraiser to help pay for the trip. Gayle Roller bought a Beachstone "Tin Soldier" mold and gifted it to Joanie, who cast one, modified it, and re-molded it. The ornaments came in black and white, the color of the uniform the performers wore at Carnegie Hall, and purple and white, the official colors of the Carlsbad Lancers. For the latter, parents could specify the hair color of the ornament to match that of their child. Thirty of the black and white ornaments were made, and most likely a similar number of the purple and white ones. Click on the pictures below for larger views.
