Sadie Shoofly

Sadie Shoofly was sculpted by Lynn Fraley and introduced in earthenware ceramic in 2012. She represents a nonspecific light breed mare. Lynn writes of this piece on her blog:  "So what’s got her so hot and bothered?  A nasty horsefly?  A cinch that pinches? An irritating little yipper?  An overly friendly suitor?  Just having a bad day? That's for collectors to decide...." Lynn was also undergoing chemotherapy as she finished this sculpt. She writes:"Poor Sadie has captured some of my frustration of the past few years; especially this year with all of its medical ups and downs".  Sadie is 1:12 scale, or in plastic model horse terminology, Classic scale. At the moment the six Sadies pictured are all the Sadies currently in ceramic. Joanie says she may do a few more. Click on the pictures below for larger views.
