Tango
Tango was sculpted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig and introduced in fine bone china in 2007. He represents a Spanish breed horse and is a small 1:12 scale, or in plastic model horse terminology, Classic scale. Tango was the last release in the Marcherware line, the collaboration between Joanie and Mark Farmer of Alchemy Ceramics in England, in which Mark cast the pieces in bone china and Joanie finished them. Unfortunately however, Mark fell out of touch with Joanie and the run was never finished. Joanie painted three of each of the following colors: dapple rose grey, dark dapple grey, mulberry grey, liver chestnut, grulla sabino, and buckskin. In addition, Joanie did a test in dark bay and finished a couple of individual horses, a chestnut and the dark palomino pictured here at the top of the page. The dark palomino was sold at auction for the Flying Heart Fundraiser, a benefit to help pay for a collector's spouse's uncovered medical expenses. Click on the pictures below for larger views.
All photographs on this page are by Joanie Berkwitz/The Pour Horse, with the exceptions of the bay and the buckskin, which are by Carole Clinky, and the sabino on the left hand side and the dapple grey in the last row, which are by E. Heritage-Mench. Thank you Elli!!
