Voltage
Voltage was sculpted by Kristina Lucas Francis and released in earthenware china in 1996. She represents a young Thoroughbred mare in a show jumping turn. Voltage is the first ceramic horse that Kristina released to the general public. Joanie, having recently hired Kristina to clean greenware and molds, encouraged Kristina to sculpt her own horse and produce it herself. A total of 112 fleabit greys, 103 chestnuts and 55 bisques were made, along with a handful of tests, custom glazes and claybody customs. Markings varied on all the pieces, though stars and snips are somewhat more common than blazes, and the shading and fleabites- each hand applied individually by Kristina- varied wildly.
